Charisma LeeMiss SibbachEnglish IV15 December, 2017Race for Destruction”… After every breakthrough in cloning, feel compelled to reassure the public. But the public is further disquieted by the implicit admission that there are still “Frankenstein-type people”!” (Shelly Foreword). The race for knowledge and putting the creator’s name out there, will eventually cause humanities destruction as scientists tamper with the unknown. Everyone wants to become the one who creates life, unfortunately scientist do not know the extreme risks that could become obtained. As many people try to play roles that are brutal or Godly they become a hazard to humanity. Who will take responsibly when humanity’s destruction becomes a risk? Scientists have tried to further their research in ways of experiments, which put into effect a manipulating factor. One failure causes experts to put into effect another factor and another after that. Victor Frankenstein who becomes known as a scientist who took the best body parts and tried to create a son for over two years. Victor failed many times, putting in effect many factors and not knowing what he tampered with. These failures and misleading in the experiments can cause the humanities destruction. “But other scientists warn that humanity may be hurtling toward mass suicide. These rapid advances can, like the Frankenstein experiment or the development of certain antibiotics, simply boomerang, bringing new types of accidents and destructive conditions.”(Shelly Foreword). The public became worried that scientists would see the creation of creature as a good experiment allowing people to play God. Tampering with death and life will become a serious issue that scientist still refuse to see the big picture.Artificial human life has become more evolved every year. What if Mary Shelley, an eighteen-year-old just writing ghost stories inspires many other “mad scientists”? Today in 2017 scientists along with surgeons have started to develop new cell research, bone marrow, and have become successful in creating embryos. A successful experiment became created with lab rats that allowed experts to create an embryo without using a sperm or egg. Scientists seem to hope that this will allow families who can not have kids or a single mother who wants children to become eligible to have one without the risks of a donor having the dominant genes. The scientists who become involved with the creation of child embryos have introduced themselves to a part with tamping with the unknown. People who tinker with gene manipulation in the embryos could cause a mass destruction of creating weapons or monsters like creature. “The long-range effects of gene manipulation are unpredictable. Super-intelligent machines can evolve to compete with humanity, compete for our resources, ‘squeeze human beings out of existence'” (Shelly Foreword). In 2016, Scientists have created embryos that include both animal and human species in search of finding cures. There goal will allow experts to create a wide range of animal farms that will allow scientists to have human organs that could transfer into terminally ill patients. Even the scientist and the bioethicists have started to worry that these strange actions have crossed the line. “‘You’re getting into unsettling ground that I think is damaging to our sense of humanity,”(Newman Stuart). Stuart teaches anatomy and cell biology at the New York Medical College. These scientists try to save lives but there becomes evidence that still points to tamping with the unexplored. Even if experts did all the research possible, the risks still become high since scientist will never know the true extent of their exploration. Victor tried to create a super intelligent son, but since he would not love creature, Victor created a weapon that strangled the ones he loved. Many failed experiments have caused humanity to believe that we have come closer to disaster. An experiment known as the Stanford Prison Experiment took twenty four college students and placed them in a psychology building disguised as a prison. They gave them either a role of the guard or the prisoners. Psychologist began to notice that they became attached to their roles. The guards started to beat the prisoners which caused a rebellion in the prison. One of the prisoners became uncontrollable and broke out in rage. They had to stop the experiment because researchers found that what they were doing was inhuman. “It wasn’t until much later that I realized how far into my prison role I was at that point– that I was thinking like a prison superintendent rather than a research psychologist” (Zimbardo 2008). This point proves that when humanity’s actions are put into roles people become familiar with that role. The rage and inhuman acts that became permitted to the roles created a disaster. Within the novel Frankenstein, Creature started to see himself as a monster and believed that he looked like one. In his mind he became one, therefore causing him to act as one. Scientists have a way of not taking responsibility and therefore causing a range of destruction. The novel Frankenstein portrays as a good example of how if there becomes no action taken for the creations created, it could cause a range of destruction. Creature started to attack Victors loved ones all because Victor would not act as a father figure to him. As Creature started to terrorize Victor’s family, Victor did not tell anyone that his creation became a monster causing more deaths.
