According to the background of Claire Benoit, her life is full of happiness. She comes from a warm family. Her genial parents always support her. She mostly has happy moment with her friends like in the birthday party. Her cheerful life; nevertheless, does not stay longer. She becomes one of the kidnapping victims. This event completely alters her beautiful life into a dreaded life. After being kidnapping, she faces with many threats on each day. Because of living initial life without any difficulties, it is hard for her to deal with this situation.
In the scene of abduction, Claire Benoit is obviously a significant character owing to the fact that she is the real cause of kidnapping. As Claire is an air-headed and protected teenage girl who rarely faced with any pain or trauma, she then made an involuntary mistake with Barry who is one of Kevin’s personalities. She approached him and pulled his hands under her shirt to embarrass him. This action hit one of Barry’s psychological traumas leading to losing his dominant personality over the others. Consequently, as she was benighted of doing that action, she subsequently was abducted by Barry.
After taking all of information into consideration, we believe that Claire who is a supporting character has three psychological perspectives. To begin with behavioural perspective, she has been reinforced for displaying social behaviours. This contributes her to becoming more popular among her friends, so she is more likely to attend the party than being alone. Secondly, in terms of cognitive perspective, as she was able to successfully encourage others to want what she wants, she thinks that it will work for Casey too. So, at the first period of being abduction, she continuously inclined Casey to follow her escaped plan. Her skill; however, not works with Casey who can realise how strong Kevin is. Lastly, the idea that Claire makes the first attempt to escape through a vent in the ceiling in order to get rid of fearful feeling is another point in favour of the humanistic prospective. She wants to get out from Kevin’s basement so that she can get the benefits of a safety, happy and fulfilling life. The great efforts she makes; hence, will increase her chance for self-fulfilment.
It is undeniable that Marcia is also a second supporting character of Split. Marcia is a best friend of Claire Benoit. She has a lot of meaningful moment with Claire, especially Claire’s birthday party. Apart from Claire, she is a classmate of Casey. Significantly, she is also one of the teenage kidnapping victims. In the initial scene of Split, she enjoys her life with friends. However, after Kevin kidnaps her, she faces with only stressful and controlled situation. There is no more of her freedom life. Consequently, owing to living initial life without any suffering, it is very difficult for her to efficiently cope with this harsh situation.
In addition to Claire, Marcia is also the factor leading to abduction. As she is a cheerful and light-headed teenagers who hardly face with abuse like Claire, she made Barry feel pain by pulling his hands under her shirt, resulting in losing his control over other’s personalities. This situation is a trigger for Barry to feel that Marcia is impure and does not really understand about trauma. Eventually, he follows Marcia for several days and kidnaps her.
The thorough consideration towards all information from movie draws up the conclusion that there are three psychological perspectives. Firstly, according to behavioural perspective, she observes the environment in order to escape from the room during the abduction. With an efficient encouragement from Claire, Marcia extremely tries to unlock the door. Secondly, the cognitive perspective occurs when Dennis chooses Marcia to dance, Marcia subsequently follows Casey’s suggestion to pee herself due to an understanding in the tactics of escaping from sexual predator that she has to make herself disgusting so as to remove the romanticism from Dennis. Lastly, the humanistic perspective can be found when Marcia is reacting to the need for safety and self-fulfilment during the abduction. She naturally strives to leave from an undetermined location. When Patricia brings her out of some food, she seizes the opportunity to escape but it fails.
The major point of Split is about the three teenage girls-Casey, Claire and Marcia who are kidnapped by Kevin who has more than 23 personalities that are more dangerous than regular human. While the girls are imprisoned at secretive place, Kevin goes to meet his psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher and finally finds his multiple identities reaching a war with one another. Obviously, a twenty-fourth personality, the Beast who dominates all of the others is emerging.

After seeing the movie, we found that there are three significant events. At the beginning of the film, Dennis who is one of Kevin’s personalities organises the kidnapping of Casey, Claire and Marcia in order to sacrifice to the Beast. He firstly attacks Claire’s father and suddenly abducted the three girls at the parking. In the middle of the movie, Dennis organises the rituals for the Beast’s religion. He brings flower to the train before becoming the Beast.
The last one of the major events is when Casey tries to escape from the Beast at the Philadelphia Zoo. She fights with him, shooting him for many times, but the Beast is able to tolerate to the pain. There is a climax of the fight when Casey is in an animal cage and wears only a tank top showing many scars on her top body. The Beast subsequently notices that scars and realises that she is used to face with the pain and trauma leading her to be pure in the eyes of the Beast. Fortunately, he finally decides not to kill her.
